Liposuction Newcastle
Liposuction is about creating a very attractive form for every patient rather than simply reducing flab. Using only the latest liposculpture techniques and instruments right here in Newcastle. Dr Beldholm creates flowing, three dimensionally balanced figures or physiques for his patients. He is also experienced at adapting his liposculpture techniques to create very different results for male and female patients. For while men generally seek a chiselled look (with emphasis on removing “love handles” and firming the abdomen), most women request that any surplus fat be removed in such a way as to create beautiful, well proportioned curves.
As there are many areas of the body that can be sculpted with liposuction – from arms, neck and chest to abdomen, thighs and legs – Dr. Beldholm discusses expectations with every patient and devises personal plans for each.
Liposuction can also be a great adjunct to other procedures, such as face lift and neck liposuction and abdominoplasty.
Liposuction goes ultrasonic
Dr Beldholm is now performing a virtually pain free, ultrasonic alternative to liposuction that provides smoother, more predictable results. And, unlike traditional methods, multiple areas can be treated in just one session.
Known as VASER® liposuction, this advanced body contouring procedure uses high frequency (ultrasonic) sound waves to break up and gently separate fat cells while leaving vital surrounding tissues unharmed.
Suitable for everything from minor touch-ups to major transformations, its final results are also apparent much sooner.
Its many benefits over traditional liposuction include:
• Healing is faster due to reduced bruising and minimal blood loss during the procedure.
• Enables the removal of small volumes of fat for precision body contouring or larger volumes for rapid debulking.
• It is clinically proven to enhance skin tightening in the treated areas.
• The final results are visible in three to four months (although many patients see noticeable differences almost immediately). This compares to up to six months for traditional methods.
• It can be performed under local anaesthetic in a doctor’s rooms or under general anaesthetic in a hospital.
How does it work?
Typical liposuction removes fat in a way that can affect surrounding tissues, thereby causing pain and increasing recovery time. However, the VASER method is tissue-selective, meaning it specifically targets fat while protecting nerves, blood vessels and connective tissues from damage.
The procedure begins with the targeted area being injected with a special saline solution known as a tumescent fluid. This numbs the treatment area while shrinking local blood vessels so that blood loss is minimised and bruising reduced. Small probes that resonate at a high ultrasonic frequency are then inserted into the treatment area through small incisions. These probes literally shake loose fat cells. The liquefied loose fat cells then mix with the tumescent fluids and are removed from the body using gentle suction.
Depending upon the number of areas being treated, the procedure takes between one and several hours.
What areas of the body can be treated?
Offering realistic curves even for hard-to-fix spots, the VASER procedure is suitable for treating:
• Face and chin
• Abdomen
• Chest area
• Back
• Buttocks and hips (including love handles)
• Thighs, knees, calves and ankles
Factors such as body shape, gender, and the amount of excess fat a patient is carrying determine the amount of fat that can be removed.
Who can benefit most?
Those achieving the best results are young, in good health, and combining an active exercise regime with a healthy lifestyle. People who, following a diet and exercise regime, have found that about 10 to 15 kilograms of excess weight remains in certain pockets of their bodies may also be suitable candidates.
Please note that liposuction is not suitable for older people as their skin is less elastic and unable to firmly tighten around a new shape. Because liposuction is not a good alternative to dieting or exercise, very overweight people are unsuitable for this procedure.
After the procedure
Any discomfort after the procedure is similar to having done a tough workout session at the gym. This generally lasts for around one week before gradually settling down.
Patients are prescribed a recovery regime to promote maximum skin retraction resulting in the smoothest results. They are also provided with special compression garments to help their skin conform to their body’s new contours.
Fat transfer
Fat transfers (which are also referred to as lipofilling and liposhifting) involve harvesting fat from one area of the body for injection into another area. With a fat transfer procedure, the fat is harvested during liposuction and areas receiving a fat transfer are treated simultaneously. If the fat survives its transfer, then the results can be permanent.
Although fat can be transferred to almost any area of the body, the most common area treated is the face. For example, hollowness of the cheeks and temples can be plumped up and the upper cheek fat pad increased to give a more youthful look.
Although this technique is not new, its popularity has only recently grown as a result of advancements in techniques.
