There are many types of tummy tucks and body lifts

There are two main indications for an abdominoplasty:

  • Women post pregnancy
  • Patients that have lost a lot of weight

Dr Beldholm has therefore produced 2 videos to give you an introduction to these indications and included a range of before and after photos as well as letting you know about our services and much more.

“Every surgeon has their own way of approaching the tummy tuck or body lift that they do. Over the last few years I have been performing a lipo-abdominoplasty, that is based on my experience and also extensive research. I’m constantly tweaking and improving small parts of the operation and I hope that this gives my patients the best possible results. ”

Research shows both physical and psychological benefits from abdominoplasty surgery

Those who have undergone the abdominoplasty procedure report a number of benefits. Patients enjoy physical benefits such as flatter abs, better posture, tighter muscles, and less sagging skin. They report how clothes fit them better, and how much easier it is to exercise and move around. But it is also worth recognizing the psychological benefits of the surgery; patients report a major increase in self-confidence.

The numbers show that those who have the procedure come away satisfied: on average patients rated their outcome a nine out of ten, with 99 percent of those who received abdominoplasty in conjunction with liposuction, reporting that they were both highly satisfied and that they would recommend the procedure to others. A full 86 percent reported an improved sense of self-esteem following the surgery (ref 1).

Research also shows significant weight reduction and improved body proportions that last long term after tummy tuck surgery (ref 2).

Another study showed sustained weight loss one year after the surgery. The researchers speculated that this was due to the removal of fat, as well as the patients feeling less hungry than before (ref 3).
Looking at these benefits, it’s no surprise that tummy tuck procedures are on the rise. In 2015, according to the The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) it was the fourth most commonly performed cosmetic procedure in the world, with an estimated number 758,590 total.

According to American Society of plastic surgeons statistics for 2016. Tummy tuck surgery is up 104% as compared to the year 2000.

One of the most common questions women have about tummy tuck surgery is; "What will the scar look like?"

This is one of the most common questions that Dr Beldholm receives. The scar matures over 12 months and most of the time it becomes a thin line that is easily hidden by a bikini.
